Description

Great wines begin in the vineyard. Our 2013 Thomson Vineyard Chardonnay is no exception, and we think that the flavor of the vineyard clearly remains in the wine. Restrained use of oak, partial malolactic fermentation, and careful attention to sur lie aging bring the pure beauty of the Carneros to you.

The '13 Chardonnay is intensely citrus with aromas of ripe lemon and key lime pie with a hint of jasmine. Crisp, mouthwatering acidity and rich, round—even creamy—notes of stone fruit and citrus are followed by a clean finish with a hint of minerality.

VINTAGE NOTES

2013 was a banner Carneros year with cooperative weather—cool, foggy nights that extended until noon followed by warm, breezy afternoons. Grapes were at perfect ripeness to harvest just before the first Fall showers dampened the vines.

THE VINEYARD

The Carneros AVA is a study in contrasting climate and style. The Thomson family's (George “the farmer” and “millennial daughter” Jennifer) vineyard is cool, windy, and often blanketed in fog from nearby San Francisco Bay. With careful organic growing practices, the land, climate, and growers help their fruit retain bright acidity and minerality.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Our '13 Chardonnay's crisp acids and mouthwatering fruit make it a perfect partner for rich, luxurious food. Silky grilled salmon and buttery lobster's richness contrast beautifully and are refreshed by it. A simple, crusty baguette spread with creamy cheese becomes a special event with it, as is anything with truffles.
